Statscan first crack at 2003 Canadian crop acreage was released today. No surprises.

I think the Barley planting numbers are out of wack. Primarily because special crops/peas/canola will be less likely to be planted on smaller acreage mixed farms with livestock... these folks need forage to restock supplies... and in case we get another dry year... barley will be seeded to relieve these problems.
