    China - SARS - Wheat Stocks

    In China, where 1,959 cases and 86 deaths have been attributed to SARS, the US is considering an outright ban on travel there.

    The Chinese governement is being chastised for deceiving the western world about SARS over the last three months.

    They have had experience in this field as the wheat stocks they have been giving the WTO under the guise of cooperation, fulfilling a requirement for WTO entry, have been whacko for three years. Under-estimating SARS or over-estimating wheat stocks....same well oiled press machine.

    Maybe the spin doctors in Iraq and Regina will have jobs after all - counting rice in China.

    LarryWeber;

    I saw this on DTN last week;

    "India has wheat stocks estimated at nearly 1.5 billion bushels, and wants to whittle it down with exports. India has almost as much wheat in storage as the U.S. produced last year."

    High quality wheat may be short, but there is much wheat in the world...

      Probe into discrepancy in FCI wheat stocks

      NEW DELHI March 7. The Union Food Minister, Sharad Yadav, has ordered an inquiry after a routine tallying of accounts found a whopping gap of 5.2 MMT in the wheat stocks in the godowns of the Food Corporation of India.

      Disclosing this, sources in the Ministry said the senior regional manager of the Corporation in Punjab had been asked to proceed on leave pending the investigation.The probe would be initially conducted in-house by the Financial Adviser to the Ministry, as it was not clear whether the stocks had been siphoned off or it was a mere case of accounting error.
      ........................................
      D you really think they know what their wheat stocks are?
