SK Cattle Feeders Assoc. Congratulate New Premier and new SK Government.

SCFA Congratulates New SK party. From a News Release.

Saskatoon, SK November 8, 2007 - The Saskatchewan Cattle Feeders Association (SCFA) would like to offer congratulations to Premier Elect Brad Wall and the Saskatchewan Party on their provincial election victory. "We will be pleased to work with Premier Wall and his Cabinet on the pressing issues facing the cattle industry in this province," says Susan Echlin, General Manager of the Saskatchewan Cattle Feeders Association.

"Our industry is in crisis, and many of our producers face even greater difficulties than they did in the thick of BSE. The rising Canadian dollar, increased feed costs, and new regulatory issues are making it difficult for Saskatchewan cattlemen to remain competitive."

"The reality is that we may not all survive this one. We need some long term disaster planning, and barring some sort of economic miracle, short term government help," says Bill Jameson, President of the Saskatchewan Cattle Feeders Association. "We are in communication with the federal government on a constant basis and look forward to working closely with the provincial government on solutions for an industry which is on the precipice of disaster."

About the SCFA: The SCFA is a member-based organization, founded to meet the needs of Saskatchewan's cattle feeders. We have since grown into an association that represents the interests of thousands of Saskatchewan beef producers. Our membership includes the province's feeder cooperatives, mixed farms, cow/calf operators, large and small feedlots, backgrounders and other industry related businesses. We work to help our membership face the challenges that exist in today's feeding industry and find solutions through lobbying, education, networking and industry participation.
