    RFID Readers

We're thinking of buying a reader, since I'm tired of trying to read the tiny little numbers on the feeders we buy as they jump around in the headgate!

It'll probably be an Allflex stick reader, unless I find one I like better.

A perfect setup would be to be able to have it download the numbers into an Excel spreadsheet in a laptop as they are read. That way I can add more info on the go as we process them. I like to record the descriptions, other ID's and vaccines etc at the same time. Just reading the numbers and downloading them later doesn't let me attach the other info easily.

Does anyone here have experience with this type of reader? Can this be done?

I have used allflex readers on progeny test cattle a lot over the last 10 years, including corded and cordless. They work well. As well, there are some opportunities to tie into scale heads (eg: Tru-Test) and collect data on the fly, or calculate and sort cattle automatically, etc.

We are looking at various options at home including the two links at home.
