    Salvage crops

    Assuming worst case scenario and the snow stays from now on,what value does a grain farmer put on a good swathed crop of oats? I'm looking over the neighbour's fence wondering about swath grazing.At what price would they be interested in selling versus combining in the Spring? Any ideas?

    Grassfarmer;

    There are sure many variables in this situation...

    How many cattle will be able to feed for how many days?

    Can this be worked on a cost/head/day?

    AB Ag people have good info on the cost per day, and what a fair return might be, for both the owner of the Cattle, and the feed provider.

    Is there some way to get the cattle to finish up sections of the field, like controled grazing, so if a big snow fall comes, the cattle can stop swath grazing, and the remainder be harvested in the spring?
