alfalfa- to cut or not to cut??

I have got one cut off my alfalfa this summer, and now with the recent moisture, I have the possibility of a second. I underseeded it last year with canola. Should I try for a cut before the frost, or wait until a hard frost and cut it quick?

DO NOT cut it now.Doing so now is detrimental to the root reserves and will greatly reduce the life of the stand.Wait until after the first killing frost and cut it high or leave strips to trap snow to gain moisture and for added winterkill protection.
