Jean Chretien announced a few weeks ago, with great fanfare, that the government was going to save the farmers. He threw out a $5.2 billion figure! Some short term relief and a big overhaul of the whole agriculture program. That old spin doctor Ralph Goodale somehow got that $5.2 up to around $15 billion!
So now we've had the sizzle so how about the steak! No announcements of when or what is coming. Short term or long.
I wonder if they actually have a plan? Or if it was just old Jean panicking because he knows Martin is going to give him the heave-ho? We've heard all this babble about the five pillars, but what is that? No specifics, no details just meaningless beuracratic drivel.
