    protein increments

I'm wondering how the new system to pay farmers on the one-tenth increment of protein in their CWRS and durum is working. Farmers, when you shop around with your samples, are you finding much difference in the protein levels between various testers?

One idea is to get your wheat tested for protein by the Canadian Grain Commission directly or a feed testing lab (eg. Norwest Labs). That way you have knowledge about protein before you ever enter the elevators door step and therefore are in a better bargaining position. Many of the grain companies will also submit a sample to their central grading department for a more detailed analysis/grade.
