Horse? Others.... Been to the cattle sales?

Wondering what the prices for calves really are?

Here's a Manitoba example. The run is not exactly on here though. Assuming there's going to be a run.....

We're running a couple of cows and maybe a grasser or two in next week to test the waters.

      Havent
been to any more sales but NBI quote 640# str 1.57 . I expect to see lower prices after swathing my bly it is the poorest looking stuff I have ever grown and that takes quite a bit of doing.
I see a lot of fields that look like mine did but wait to see what comes out of combine but light I am dam sure.

Ya that's why I started this thread, I heard Garth's
comment also. I have a hard time believing that's
where prices are at. Instead of giving a price
range in their market report for several years now
they give the top sales out of near a hundred lots.

I have in past years sold calves that didn't fall
within their price range. When I called them on it I
was told " well its an advertising tool"

What was the issue with your Barley, I was thru
Westlock and Barrhead a couple times this
summer and the crop were hard to look at.
Compared to the crops we got ours were garbage
          yours gold.

Cattle prices better be good the wife and I make
over 10k month farm makes me wonder some
          days.

NBI quotes are TOTALLY useless. They are in the business to make money and will SPAM you all year long. Anyone who deals with them had better be sharp because they have all the winning cards.

              Been there...learned MY lesson.

Ya they do have fees for everything. You hear
from people to be careful dealing with them but
                can't find anything specific so???

The only really good market report is the one you write down while you sit in the stands. It's the only way to know what cattle that look like yours are worth.

Dont know what is wrong with bly 2 row long heads tiped over but diodnt fill look a bit like frozen bly small light thin kernals.
AS FOR nbi YA THEY have real sharp pencils and one dosent know just how they play , could be those prices were thier own cattle in the first place but sounds good if they can say they went through the ring.
