The Squeaky Wheel Gets the Grease?

A proposed sweet well on the outskirts of Calgary brings out the urban protesters, and almost immediately the Alberta government falls all over itself, bringing in a "Urban Drilling policy"?
Come on....a simple sweet gas well!!!!!

How about all us dummies out in the country? What are we....expendable?

For years our group has been lobbying and begging the government for regulations (and a regulator) to protect our health and safety, our water, land and air.......result....nothing!....it's like F you!
We live with high pressure pipelines, sour gas wells/pipelines, high pressure hydro fracking blowouts, contaminated aquifers, crazy drilling traffic, decaying pipeline infrastructure spills?
How come we can't get any decent safeguards.....but one little squeak in a Calgary subdivision and the politicians fall all over themselves kissing their butts!

When the ERCB was caught spying on
landowner meetings to me that was very telling.
The ERCB was supposedly the Gov agency
watchdog over the oil industry, more like a club
the oil industry uses beat the remaining rights
out of landowners with. Like the fact land owners
supposedly only own the top 6" of their land.
Things should be like the US you own you land
    ... all of it.

Havnt had much to do with ERCB but SRB is just a retiremen longe for gov hacks with a very strong leaning to oil. You get no satasfaction there.

ALLARMER: You did own everything under the surface (excepting minerals and water) until Dec 2, 2010, at which time the Alberta government decided to take the "pore space" for itself!

How they did it is completely crooked....first they changed "pore space" into a mineral......then they ruled they always owned that "mineral"!

They further legislated this wasn't an expropriation, therfore no compensation and you couldn't challenge it in the courts. This is the infamous Carbon Capture Bill-Bill 24! It was slicker move to get around property law.

The very basis of British common property law is the landowner owns the land from the center of the earth to the heavens above- (the heaven to hell law).
