There were only 12 cases of BSE reported to date in 2011 in the entire world.
Four in the UK, 3 in Ireland, 2 In Switzerland, 1 In Canada and the Netherlands.
According to the OIE, the implementation of appropriate control measures resulted in the decline of BSE worldwide from 37,000 cases in 1992 to just 12 in 2011.
It seems to me, assuming those control measures remain in place, that BSE will soon be a thing of the past.
