Alberta Canola Producers Launch Mobile Website

Canola and feed grain growers will now
have better access to canola and feed
    grain prices, from their Blackberries,
    iPhones and other smartphones.

    The Alberta Canola Producers Commission
(ACPC) has launched a mobile version of
    their website at www.m.canola.ab.ca.

"Farmers and ranchers want the ability
to monitor canola and barley futures and
cash feed grains as they are traded
during the day," says Rick Taillieu,
    ACPC's Grower Relations & Extension
    Coordinator. "Market information is the
most visited section of our main
website, so we designed a mobile version
to allow growers to easily watch the
prices when they are in the field."

The mobile site features ICE canola
futures on a 10 minute delay, daily
    crusher prices, and daily country
    elevator buying prices for canola,
barley, peas, feed wheat and more.
The mobile site also provides easy
    access to agronomic bulletins, coming
events and the contact information for
    their Canola Council of Canada
    agronomist.

    “Alberta’s farmers quickly adopt and
    utilize new technology like mobile
devices,” adds Taillieu. “Our goal is to
    improve canola producers access to
information as they grow with the
    technology.”

    For more information go to
    http://www.canola.ab.ca or
    http://www.m.canola.ab.ca on your web
    enabled smartphone

The ACPC is a farmer governed, farmer
    funded, refundable checkoff organization
    serving canola growers in Alberta.
