Anise is a spice crop that has a growing season of 120 days. You have to be in an area that has a long season. It can be seeded with a conventional drill and harvested with a combine. Anise seed is a licorice flavor and is used in preparation of liquers such as Ouzo and in meat such as pepperoni. The essential oil is used in perfumes, soaps, etc. I tried growing it in St.Paul, AB (NE Alta) but the growing season isn't near long enough. It sure smelled good while it was growing!
