Another thread talks of how poorly prepared and responsive Canada has been to Covid-19. So it is very interesting that a classified pentagon report was delivered to Trump in January 2017 warned of the dangers of a corona virus and shortages of equipment and supplies to deal with a corona virus pandemic. Trump did nothing to restock for such a pandemic and in fact last year cut the government pandemic response unit.

Here is the link to the newspaper which broke this story and provides the link so you can actually read the 103 page now declassified Pentagon report. Very interesting. So the US, with 3 years warning did nothing to prepare for a pandemic which their own military warned was likely.

All politicians failed us. We are across the ocean from the origin. We could see what was happening on tv. The USA has the best intelligence spy system besides the obvious on the tv. And our (North American) politicians were all preoccupied with getting re elected, worried about pipelines and climate change and no one stepped up and said hey Houston this could be a problem? How easy comparatively speaking would it have been to shut down flights and ships in December compared to shutting our whole system down now?

And I have to ask why are some of you still comparing this debate to climate change? Saying the New York hospitals are empty? Saying we shouldn’t stay home? Still defending all these complete failed leaders of all parties and all oppositions? And they are still trying to make politics points daily against each other while being brutally incompetent.

I agree with what your saying BTW . All politicians failed us . Highest levels both in Canada and the US were warned well ahead of time and did very little . Heck .. Event 201 was in October, spelling out nearly the exact scenario we see now .
All I know is the single biggest risk to Canadians was air travellers from world hot spots .
That door was left open far too long with near zero screening . Agree there as well
The rest is nearly out of control now as our front line health care workers are being overrun in certain areas . They are the ones who are left to deal with the fall out of incompetence on many levels .

Not just emergency rooms, clinics also. How many more people are going to make their health outcomes worse by not seeking help because of these fears. A delayed cancer diagnosis by only a short time is all the difference between beating it or not. Same with lots of other issues, just compounds everything.

Absolutey true however his actions will affect our situation as much as our own actions. Until an effective treatment or vaccine is in place as long as they have the disease we will have the threat even with the border closed our economy will still suffer the lack of business with them at minimum.

Why don't you tell the story accurately. Fauci sat on a cure and democract gov banned the drugs that are now coming into focus to treat this disease. He is complicit in murder. There are studies going back to 2005 that found these anti malarial drugs effective against the first SARS-COV outbreak.
