Reuters) - Saudi Arabia's main state wheat buying agency has told grains exporters it will no longer buy Canadian wheat and barley in its international tenders, European traders said on Tuesday, as a diplomatic dispute between the two countries escalates.

Traders said they had received an official notice from the Saudi Grains Organization (SAGO) about its decision.

Canada on Monday refused to back down in its defense of human rights after Saudi Arabia froze new trade and investment and expelled the Canadian ambassador in retaliation for Ottawa's call to free arrested Saudi civil society activists.

Saudi Arabia isn't a huge buyer of Canadian barley... But considering it sounds like https://www.producer.com/2019/04/views-differ-on-exports-to-china-other-than-canola/ China has quit ordering all or most grains from Canada we need every market we can get

truedope only interest in western canada farms is to investigate how incorporated farms are tax cheats, and attempt to remove cash deferrals from cash accounting. Truly no govt representation west of ontario.

To be fair, Canada has been sold out of barley until new crop for some time already. Barley is certainly popular crop option for this year as seed has been unavailable since about Christmas in AB.

There were reports during the weekend from Canadian traders that China had sent huge CIQ teams to investigate Canadian barley. The market fears China will shortly crack down on Canadian barley.

Which should be motivation enough to encourage everyone to NOT desiccate any crops this year. The bans may be purely political moves, but they will need a justification, and that is the easiest possible excuse to lock us out.

I don’t know of anyone or even seen anyone “desiccate” barley .. so not sure how it can be any issue ???

But ya agree , it’s reglone only on peas , Blackbeans here.

It will change some bigger farms .. a lot of wheat was sprayed early just so the combines could roll earlier to cover more acres. Right or wrong it has helped some farms expand dramatically. You add a week to harvest with 8-10 combines ... that’s a pile of acres off earlier to feed the driers . Not sure how the CPS wheats will be effected.

Was watching RB auctions , late model swathers were selling very strong in comparison to other late model machinery.
