    Info Climate Comment

Starting to seem possible even likely australia may pull out of paris climate accord/agreement.

Right or wrong i dont know but sentiment appears to be shifting.

Tow sides australia a small emmiter has to be seen to be doing something to force china india etc to do something.

Or why should we do anything when big polluters dont.

My money is we stay but vigourous debate will ensue in coming weeks months

Yes I see Turnbull is experiencing some push back on emissions targets!

Depends on what basis you judge big or small emitters - the average Australian is responsible for nearly 10 times the emissions of the average Indian. You've some of the highest per capita emissions in the world and are better placed to reduce them because Australia has a well educated and relatively wealthy population.

Are you just a f$&king moron grass.
Only you would stir the pot and bring up the per capita bullshit.

I guess Sask should let Toronto have a free pass to polute like they want and sask with its low population should cut back and walk to a rider game etc.

The big polluters are the problem this useless accord is billshit

Again depends which way you look at it grass we have industry oil gas coal iron ore but a small population hence highest in the world with population not sure 25 million wereas india might have 25 million in just one province.

Or put it another way if we had 40 million we wouldnt be so bad.

The latest energy push and green parties support it in principle what ever that means lol is using hydrogen generation from coal for elecrticity apparently its clean and a "neutral"source of energy.

I know little of the idea therefore not qualified to comment except all parties left right green ultra right want it explored

A political question a generic one, the whole change this week in paris accord and emmisions is a bid for prime minister to hang on to power, there well may be a leadership challenge and even a new prime minister in next few days.

We have had i think last 8 years 5 changes of prime minister and only one change of party.

Do prime ministers ever get rolled in canada and replaced by someone in there own party?

snap shot mark got replaced by kevin, kevin got replaced by julia, julia then got replaced again by kevin thats on the left side of politics all PMs, the conservatives won power tony won the election he got replaced by malcolm about a year in, now tony want his job back but a new "quite conservative" guy named peter may roll malcolm. Peter and tony are mates.

Peter has 30 votes but needs 43 to roll malcolm who would be a pollie real merry go round in aust politics.

Oh and on the left side of politcs bill replaced kevin after he lost the election.

So the left leader is Bill Shorten ....bullshit bill
The right leader is Malcolm Turnbull......Turnbullshit

So most votes think both our leaders are shit lol

Malcolm Turnbull has emerged victorious after calling a Liberal leadership spill 48-35, beating Peter Dutton, who has resigned from the ministry.

Oh and PS liberal in australia means conservative

Because reducing emissions for wealthy, high emitting people isn't much of a hardship. In the third world it could mean the difference between eating or not, life or death. For all the bitching on here about a carbon tax, if fuel prices were to double nobody would go hungry - doubtful if it would even lead to a reduction in the multiple holiday a year lifestyle enjoyed by many.

Mallee what I find strange about your political leadership changes is how often your PMs have left and returned that seems quite unusual. Churchill is one of the few that springs to mind that did that and his return was a big disappointment.

They dont leave grass they are challenged from within there party.

Until recent times been very stable but now a dogs breakfast. Its become a popularity contest rather than good govt.

I liked and voted for Tony Abbott bit of a "old school " conservative fiscal accountablity smaller govt less waste and anti union.

He made some tough decisions for good of the country, but media based polls he least preffered prime minister for maybe 2 years in the polls but liberal was preffered govt. The liberals panicked and malcolm turnbull said we will lose govt if he stays it pissed off alot of right leaning voters such as myself, so we had a moderate leader or quasi left leader in a right wing party trying catch middle ground and swinging voters.

Malcolm won by narrowest margin possible and the upper house of politics impossible to get stuff through without horsetrading liberal dont have the numbers and have to give ground on all legislation. Fast foward malcolm is now even more unpopular than tony was, one hes peaved of traditional voters such as me, hes lost the middle ground voters cause he doesnt go far enough to middle ground or left.

So the guy that challenged today for prime ministership was old school. Cuased a kerfuffle 6 8 months ago said south african farmers should be allowed emgergency refugee status he was immigration minister did go down well with left who said no we need more syrians sudanese muslims of any shape and any country but no south africans there not true refugees. He made a flippant comment something like "at least they will be worthy citizens and uphold our beliefs" well shit hit the fan for a while.

Put a canadian slant on it , if JTs party thought heck we wont win next election with justin lets move him on now and get a new leader, but sounds like you way more stable govt and political process.

$$$$ has everything to do with a distribution of wealth and tax grab.

Grassfarmer you are right but that's kinda the same argument that you fail to see from most farmers on here. Heat and light in cold Canadian winters and rural commute for any goods and services are a necessity for most of us but someone living in an urban warm climate it is unnecessary yet carbon taxes make us carry the load for everyone.
