Friday Crop Report on a Thursday!

Well, another week has come and gone and we continue to move on. Some have reached the finish line in our area and some in the heavy wet area just started Wednesday of this week. That area had very bad hail last year and a 3 in a downpour at day or two later.

We have hit 86% of the 2020 crop is in the ground as of tonight.

Most farmers in the area are now finally done with the harvest from 2019 and are busy seeding behind the combines.

Peas are all seeded and most are up already. Some fields have wild oats pressure others to have zero to no weeds. Lentils are the same. Few more acres in our area but not a massive amount.

Barley is mostly seeded for guys going for malt. Later seeded will be for the feed market. Early is up and most have rows.

Hrs and Durum are seeded or just finishing on most farms. Early is up and growing nicely.

Canola is going in the ground and lots of guys delayed seeding this year due to last years shit show with the early birds. Guys who usually complain about flea beetle control actually always are the early seeders. Talk to any retail and they will explain that. The odd field is up.

Flax is all seeded or just finishing. Nothing up.

    Oats are going in.

We have a few guys that took went to the meeting last year on growing rye and grew quite a few fields. It survived the winter really good and has been all floated fertilizer on. Looks good but could use a rain real soon.

Moisture levels in our area are good at the moment. Rains have been hit and miss. 1/4 in here or there and a mile away sweet **** all. Our area did not get much out of the last storms.

Pasture is in need of that good spring soaker to wake it up and get it going. Lots have moved cows out and odd one still drops a bale now and then.

WIND WIND WIND WIND WIND you almost want to join chuck and piss away a few dollars on a wind mill that would go to shut down mode because 70km is a little crazy. Spraying is been done at night or the two calm days guys go nuts.

So keep safe and lets hope we all get that million dollar starter rain real soon.

From last year's experience....I think the crop will go into survival mode for about two weeks until the June 10th rain comes here...

Many went crazy spraying in crop in 2019 only to find out that the weeds have better survival tactics than a seeded crop and the crop was polluted because in crop spraying was a bust last year unless you waited for the weeds...many didn't they went by the 23 year old newbie agrologist and what they just finished learning in the textbooks....

I have watched guys do a 2019 preharvest spray to combine.....then a post harvest spray in 2019 and a pre burn 2020 spring spraying .....they love those sprayers ....by my calculations in sprayer cost and chemical thats a good 3 passes at about a total of 50 bucks an acre...

The odd guy got some crop insurance but most nothing for last years left out crops.

Skippy and company can’t spell AG or do more hasn’t told him we’re all having mental issues and maybe that will work.

Basically we live in a country that does zero for primary producers.

Meng not getting a free get out of jail card is not going to be good for canada.

I think we need a leader to grow a pair say enough of this bullshit and cancel all Chinese ventures in canada play hard because the gay route of talking and nice socks just doesn’t cut it.

Farmers will be hurt big time starting real soon.

I give up on BoBoo and company and realize we’re all on our own.

Even on land purchases we’re fighting Canadians who are in bed with foreign investors buying out farms out.

+2.5C this morning, 2/10" over night plus 2.5/10" Tuesday, and THAT WIND! Sure hope weeds sprout before June 21, then they grew! Spraying shit show, spray early, spray often...leave $500,000 sprayer idling. Most done or close, oats and canola if any left.

Never leave $500,000 sprayer idling. Many hours are put on those things sitting there while filling or worse yet somebody is scribbling on a chemical box trying to figure out a tank mix while the hours click off

Even Prosper is working this year, they must have decided to put the active in after all the Lumiderm claims last year. Click image for larger version

Still waiting for emergence in the Ghetto.
                        I don't want to look.
