American ag Tech is ahead of us in so many ways.

    Easy example.

This field had no in crop herbicide. This is a planter skip.

Sprayed with a product called Ravine made by a company called Innvictus.

They are learning that using nothing but Roundup is bad... And replacing it...

Meanwhile were talking about spraying more gly, overusing it already.

Half the active ingredients are Atrazine and triazines. Big deal. Nothing new. Won't replace glyphosate.

Thank you Monsanto for the most important and valuable herbicide ever.

Callisto mixed with Primextra II Magnum.
Does the exact same thing in corn here.
Probably costs more though. It would take 3-5 years longer to get registered as Ravine here and the extra cost might not be worth registering it in Canada just for a more convenient package

Glyphosate, heavy rate in the fall cleans up fields ready for next year. Can't be beat at a very low cost.

Yes Klaus in your mind everybody is ahead of Canada in every way. Downer Debbie!

... And that heavy rate of a chelator means you don't spray in crop next year???

FMC is up here pushing with stuff like Authority... there's a lot of push in other markets to pre-plant only with no in crop applications because it's more consumer friendly...

Scientifically science wise it doesn't make a difference because you need persistence (and thus exposure) to prevent weed growth.

Pre-plant does reduce the workload and potential yield loss from out of stage herbicide...

PS: The reason Americans are doing this is because glyphosate doesn't work anymore.

For terminating forage fields nothing works better for our farm! All green is gone! Glyphosate and Heat does the job. Sure don't want to go back to summer fallowing, with the cost of fuel and the wearing out of equipment.

                So true!

I'm sure there is an American product that can buy yield that most farmers believe is all important. They won't be any farther ahead on the bottom line, but perception seems to matter. I'm sure there is an American product that western provinces could use that would allow for two crops a year, and most of us would up take it. It still wouldn't improve our bottom line, but what the heck, we might become more competitive with Argentina, and the rest of the world.

Or as a farming friend once said, "I think I will just muddle along." It can make for a much happier farmer.
