Malt barley in trouble for new crop?

Real drop in beer consumption. Old crop malt barley might be delayed till Sept or Oct deliveries. If there is that big of a glut of contracted old crop malt, it means they will select extra hard and not take any more than the contracted minimum and even at that probably no shipping for 6-12 months. Can't help but think the surplus barley will pressure malt and feed prices. Lack of an ethanol market for corn will also tank the corn price, which tanks the barley price.

Anyone see the new crop malt market shaping up differently? Cash flow nightmare if you have to wait a year to get shipping and payment.

There might be higher beer consumption. What else are people going to do?

Switch the barley acres to rye. With millions of people quarantined with their families for 3 months, beer ain't going to cut it.

y'all are behind the times. I'm growing weed.

malt could certainly be in trouble if the economy drags. Need money to buy booze.

Then again, a study I just found through Google says while more people abstained from alcohol during the great recession, the number of moderate and heavy drinkers increased, and binge drinking increased. So total consumption increased overall.
