No January USDA monthly report today due to U.S. government shutdown.

Canadian taxpayers would be better off if we could scrap Statistics Canada.

Errol, with all the private forecasts and analysis, don't you think the market already has a pretty good idea of what the overall numbers will be?

The reason there is reporting is due to the Russians.

Could it be the Chinese this time?

The usa system will find out soon?
In Canada we would have to wait until the ships are in port, grain purchase contracts are in place, and there is nothing else available.

There is public reporting to prevent this from happening again, seems most people don’t know or understand why this happened.

Canada should have public reporting of sales same week, for large sales over10,000 tons, (100 rail cars)

Sales of smaller lots, 2,000 tons every 2 weeks reporting and public ( not submitted by the sellers and public disclosure 6 weeks later)

Sales under 2,000 tons don’t need reporting.

To prevent, misuse, when sales to one customer occurs through multiple contracts and are say 3 times the other minimum volumes to one customer in one year they automatically revert to the next higher level for that customer for the balance of the year.

Stats Can or CGC should be able to do this?

Someone should do it....it amazes me that Cargill is mandated to do this in the states but Canadian officials think it would be an inconvenience for grain cos ...

Good point, private production numbers are definitely close and in-the-ballpark.

USDA is likely a better gauge of export movement due to the number of government bean counters out there . . . .
