Said with the greatest respect for our older folks, yes it could be worse. Everyone who gets really sick with covid needs someone to care for them. That is certainly the case for the elderly.
The 1918 flu took out lots 20-40 year olds.

It could also happen that after covid abates the death rate might drop because so many older ones are gone. It is like the time of their death has been hurried along.
Not a forgone conclusion though for there are health issues for those that get over a bad case

So you had to mention LBGTQ in your Covid Mask rant, knowing very well this would get all the Social Conservatives Righties head's to explode and join into your B.S. Then to top it off, you throw Climate Change into the mix. I guess you needed a little help as your "Mask Working?" thread of a couple of days ago ended up making you look feeble and weak from just wearing a mask for 10 minute. Then of coarse you posted a couple of weeks ago that "you'll never wear one".

Sheep, just wondering why wearing a mask is such a sore spot for you. You posted on Agriville many times you live in a "Bubble World" and have next to no contact with the any outsiders, so how is mask wearing effecting you.

In your "Bubble World" do you not understand what the ICU units in all hospitals are going through right now because of Covid patients.. The countless interviews with doctors and nurses from all over North America describing what is taking place on the front lines in these hospitals. Do honestly think they make this shit up? Why do you think all hospital staff are now wearing masks while at the hospital since the Covid pandemic has broken out? I guess the medical professionals are being led along just like the rest of Canadians regarding masks don't work.

Your posts are disrespectful to all who may have lost love ones to Covid as well to all the Doctors and Nurses who are working countless hours to save our fellow Canadians lives.

In sask 2 people died from covid today, 4 died from overdose just in Regina today. The 2 people that died were in their 80s. I would fashion a bet the overdoses were younger and might have been victims of our lockdown insanity.

Is that grim math lost on our health professionals? Which way do you want to kill people forage? Is overdose more humane? Is it a good trade off to save someone 80 and sacrifice someone 40? Its painfully obvious we cant save everyone without destroying ourselves.

Yes this scamdemic has been a godsend for nurses, and teachers, unions. ‘Overworked, Underpaid, Essential Workers, Lack of PPE, Unsafe Workplace, Worker Shortage,..’.
I would suggest most doctors are more concerned with all the other real critical illnesses and scheduled surgeries that have been cancelled, put on hold, rescheduled into eternity, and all the resulting pain, suffering, and death. Needlessly.
The at risk population are in LTC’s, and we can easily deal with that, isolate them, restrict visitation, etc. To destroy the country and do a ‘reset’ is pure trickery.

Jason Kenny got into hot water today mentioning that a lot of new covid cases were coming from the south Asian community in Calgary. Of course the hue and cry of racism. Of course this south Asian community likely votes overwhelmingly for these worthless twit politicians that are wanting to do lockdowns. High time to reduce immigration since they will overwhelm the healthcare sector.

I think i am going to start a drinking game: when you listen to the radio or the tv and hear the word covid you have a shot of Fire ball or Tequila, its getting to the point were you cannot listen to them any more all fear mongering. The medias narrative of people falling dead in the streets is not happening ,in our local paper there has on the avg 11 people in there obituary section every week since last march and do you know what, None have died of covid. I have friends that are Doctors and they will tell you privately that it is being overblown.

When this is all over, we will be able to analyze the excess death stats and see if that is the case. If there is a sharp drop in excess deaths for a few weeks then recovers to normal seasonal levels and stays there, then we can presume that covid took only a few weeks off of its typical victims life spans. If the excess deaths drop only slightly below average and stay there for decades, we can assume it was taking just as many people with decades of life left to live.
Or it could fall somewhere in between, or some combination of each.

Unfortunately, hindsight won't solve the problems in the here and now.

Most of us farmers are self admitted hermits, the lockdown has absolutely no affect on our day to day lives, or our livelihoods. For those of you harping about this relentlessly, on either side, Pick a different hill to die on.

As evidence for the purpose of starting this thread, here is a typical "news" report from a local "news" source:

"Midwest COVID Update: Northern Wellington County COVID-19 cases risk a RED Control public health designation
                  COVID-19 cases in Wellington County

Wellington-Dufferin-Guelph Public Health has now released COVID-19 case, data broken down per municipality. And it shows that the Townships of Wellington North and Mapleton and the Town of Minto continue to have the highest number of cases in all of Wellington County.

“Unlike much of the rest of Wellington-Dufferin-Guelph Health Unit, the COVID numbers for Wellington North, Minto and Mapleton are consistent with the RED CONTROL level,” said Wellington North Mayor, Andy Lennox. “This is one step away from the GREY LOCKDOWN level. We need to continue to be vigilant. Please continue to follow all public health guidelines and gather only with those you live with.”

“Nobody wants another lockdown,” said Mapleton Mayor Gregg Davidson. “We need to protect our most vulnerable residents. We need to keep our businesses open and our children in school. If social gatherings are responsible for the majority of community transmission, we need to listen to the data and our Medical Officer of Health. The sooner we can get the virus under control, the sooner we can return to normal life.”

“On October 20, the entire County of Wellington had zero active cases of COVID-19 and today we’re pulling Wellington County, Dufferin County and the City of Guelph into the RED CONTROL level,” said Minto Mayor George Bridge. “This is a real wake up call. I urge all residents and business owners to follow Public Health guidelines. To date, we have been educating those not in compliance. Enforcement is coming for those not in compliance.”

Contact tracing investigations reveal that social gatherings, large and small, are responsible for the majority of cases.

Huron Perth Public health reported another ten cases of COVID-19 were confirmed in the past 24 hours. North Perth, Perth East and Stratford each have 3 new cases. There was one new case in South Huron. There are 49 active cases.

The Grey Bruce Public Health Unit added two new cases of COVID-19 Tuesday, one in Kincardine and one in Chatsworth. There are 34 actives, seven probable cases, and another 225 high risk contacts to those cases."
                  ---------------------------

Of special interest is that while every effort will be made to stop many kind of social gatherings, the biggest public gathering point - the super stores which draw unrelated and disparate crowds from far and wide - are allowed to remain wide open for business.

You cannot make this dichotomous stupidity up.

Humans waging 'suicidal war' on nature - UN chief Antonio Guterres
                    By Justin Rowlatt
                    Chief environment correspondent
                    Published 6 hours ago

United Nations chief Antonio Guterres issues a stark warning to world leaders about the state of the planet
"Our planet is broken," the Secretary General of the United Nations, Antonio Guterres, will warn on Wednesday.
Humanity is waging what he will describe as a "suicidal" war on the natural world.
"Nature always strikes back, and is doing so with gathering force and fury," he will tell a BBC special event on the environment.
Mr Guterres wants to put tackling climate change at the heart of the UN's global mission.
In a speech entitled State of the Planet, he will announce that its "central objective" next year will be to build a global coalition around the need to reduce emissions to net zero.
Net zero refers to cutting greenhouse gas emissions as far as possible and balancing any further releases by removing an equivalent amount from the atmosphere.
Mr Guterres will say that every country, city, financial institution and company "should adopt plans for a transition to net zero emissions by 2050". In his view, they will also need to take decisive action now to put themselves on the path towards achieving this vision.
The objective, says the UN secretary general, will be to cut global emissions by 45% by 2030 compared with 2010 levels.

You've got cheap data, how about cheap power too?
Here's what Mr Guterres will demand the nations of the world do:
                    Put a price on carbon
Phase out fossil fuel finance and end fossil fuel subsidies
Shift the tax burden from income to carbon, and from tax payers to polluters
Integrate the goal of carbon neutrality (a similar concept to net zero) into all economic and fiscal policies and decisions
Help those around the world who are already facing the dire imOur war on the natural world will come back to haunt us, says Mr Guterres
                    Apocalyptic fires and floods

It is an ambitious agenda, as Mr Guterres will acknowledge, but he will say radical action is needed now.
"The science is clear," Mr Guterres will tell the BBC, "unless the world cuts fossil fuel production by 6% every year between now and 2030, things will get worse. Much worse."

media captionIs it possible to reverse the climate crisis? The BBC's Justin Rowlatt explains
Climate policies have yet to rise to the challenge, the UN chief will say, adding that "without concerted action, we may be headed for a catastrophic three to five-degree temperature rise this century".
The impact is already being felt around the world.
"Apocalyptic fires and floods, cyclones and hurricanes are the new normal," he will warn.
"Biodiversity is collapsing. Deserts are spreading. Oceans are choking with plastic waste."

                    Moment of truth
Mr Guterres will say the nations of the world must bring ambitious commitments to cut emissions to the international climate conference the UK and Italy are hosting in Glasgow in November next year.
As well as pressing for action on the climate crisis, he will urge nations to tackle the extinction crisis that is destroying biodiversity and to step up efforts to reduce pollution.
We face, he will say, a "moment of truth".
But he does discern some glimmers of hope.

What's in Boris Johnson's climate in tray?

He will acknowledge that the European Union, the US, China, Japan, South Korea and more than 110 other countries have committed to become carbon neutral by the middle of this century.
He will say he wants to see this momentum turned into a movement.
Technology will help us to reach these targets, Mr Guterres will say he believes.

A good life reserved only for the elite and some with a high social credit score and a drab soviet style worker bee existence for the rest of us. Hey forage. I typed up a long repose last night, read it re read it. You know how it goes where your written word simply isn’t sufficing? So I cancelled. Then I did it again. Same thing. I feel like the words in print wouldn’t help much, you know?

So all I’ll say is that I have several relatives in health care. I feel really awful about the people who HAVE lost loved ones.

I have talked to MANY people who have the same struggle with masks physically as I do, so I’m far from alone.

I am blessed to live in my bubble world as you call it.

I am fine with agreeing to disagree. I am fine that someday I may be proven wrong. I have an opinion on most things, and I will continue to share it.

I think there are two simple genders, male and female. Others think this is not the case. But when the media makes you out to be a freak or a transphobic hillbilly because you hold to your values and don’t bend them, it is wrong. I don’t call ***** folk heterophobic.

The media is screwing with our values, with out country, and with our brains by stating cad numbers, which are not cases at all, but are simple positive tests. That is the comparison I draw to the lgbtq2 letter friends.

We “hillbillies” are no longer welcome to have our viewpoint. Have you ever seen an interview on cbc with a pastor from a Bible believing church, countering the interviews with the dozens of people from the other side? I didn’t think so. The lack of balance is simply put, astounding.

And that goes for climate change, and it goes for Covid. If you don’t fit the ba narrative, you are shunned and ridiculed. So then all the news all the time is about one side. The minions follow over time, they shift their views because they are told they are wrong.

I won’t change my views. Maybe that is a threat to the folks who are just loving how the moral fabric of society is getting bit by bit, trampled under the virtue signal bus.
