Conservatives ,as Preston Manning has said , should not be Arguing Against Carbon Pricing but how it’s implemented
But instead we’ve got Miny Moe using this as a political wedge instead of working on the implementation
Mustardman B.C. has had a carbon tax in place longer than any other jurisdiction in Canada. I looked at a graph put out by Statscan showing the C02 emissions in B.C. The C02 started to go down in 2007, the carbon tax was implemented in 2008. They continued to decline in 08 and 09, levelled off in 2010 and have been rising ever since. As you will remember we had a recession in 2008-2009. The drop in C02 emissions coincides with time period. As the economy recovered C02 emissions began to rise again. If a carbon tax was truly effective in reducing C02 emissions this would not have occurred. Realistically the only way to lower C02 emissions is to lower economic output and of course that is what a carbon tax of say $100 a tonne would do. Trudeau's carbon tax which supposedly refunds all carbon tax payed will do zero to change consumption!!!

Like someone said its pretty tough to reduce emissions through your income tax filings....

How can an average 2500 acre farm reduce emissions any more....one pass seeding...spray and harvest...explain how much less a guy can do????Other than putting cattle and then buffalo back on the land and go back to the way it was before the white man came.....

Sadly what no one will recognize is if Canada shut everything down and went back to its natural state.....it wouldn't change the world's pollutions problems....

Lots of reports that GST will be charged on carbon tax. Since it will be forced on SK. by the Feds, Sk. alone will be able to decide whether it wishes to slap us with a PST once a carbon tax is imposed. Let's see if Moe does.

Really. the Trouble carbon tax is so much a joke. He is not being anywhere close to serious about tackling carbon use through taxation. As SF3's comic pic shows, Trouble needs to take/give a shit, or get off the toilet on his planet saving initiative.

Where is the serious liberal acceleration clause that will cause even the alarmists to riot?

You guys don't get it. The govt already knows that we cant reduce our carbon footprint. That's the whole point of the tax. They would never tax anything that would end up with less revenue. Just like taxing beer and booze and dope. Nobody is ever going to reduce their usage unless you get cancer.

In 2 yrs another bogus UN report comes out with dire prediction. The govt gets all panicked and then points to it as the reason we need to do more, then raise it up every year. Have to do more, and more and there are a ton of clueless bleeding hearts in Canada that will got along.
