    Cows .... climate change

As we are getting belittled by the pro climate crowd .... what’s the preachers thoughts on this ??? There is big push to eliminate the cattle industry altogether.... no different than the crusade against crop production.
So is one or the other .. or both gotta go to save the climate ?? You can’t preach out one side of your mouth and not the other . If the cattle / meat industry goes under to help save the planet by addressing climate change, even the coveted Gabe Brown system is useless.

Tis a worry furrow,i have a vegan daughter errr rephrase that had a daughter who ate normal western diet then got a vegan boyfreind and shes full blown vegan as of about 18 months or so.

The state she lives in is the "epicentre" of the activsim and sounds dramatic but i fear she getting radicalized. She the one that told me she went to a "gathering" of vegans gmo organic peta activists its a bit of a worry and i warn here not to get tangled up with loonigan boofheads.

She gets stuck into me about chemicals, glypho what it does to animals my brain my body etc etc the whole planet should be organic with no farmed animals blah blah.

Still love her to death just avoid contentious issues when she comes home.

Send me links to just dumb websites and shit like you know the dust strom over melb full of chemicals......sadly i told were the majority of the dust came from showed sattelite images over course of 36 hours to see were it was whipped up from basically desert were only chemical is dingo or camel piss. For once she said err ok dad you may be right. Like a true rebel activist never say she was wrong.......

Ya that is the concern , it’s the level of extreme activism that is very very troubling .
Extreme activists are getting whipped up into a frenzy from all sides , msm , social media and new age politics like Cortez.
All of us on here that actually farm are at risk , we need to open our eyes as to how concerning and potentially damaging the attacks on all farming are . Austrandia you are part of the problem as well.
This is a huge issue now when you look at the Ag trade wars we as Canadian farmers are getting hammered with now , it all partly stems back to a very high level of extreme activism and no will to correct the current trade irritants..... unless your farm is in Quebec of course lol.

While it's a concern furrow it's not necessarily as bleak an outlook as you maybe paint. These vegan campaigns will likely reduce beef consumption somewhat in rich first world countries but they are unlikely to affect it much in developing countries. Given that global beef consumption has more than doubled since 1961 a cut back in consumption in countries with aging populations like Canada will be more than made up for by increasing demand in countries like Indonesia where current consumption is less than 3kgs per person annually. Their population is about 270 million compared to Canada's 37 million eating on average 26kgs a year. That of course is talking about global trends/consumption and where the beef will be grown/sold is a different matter.

Agree but it’s the climate change angle they are using against beer that can throw all that demand into the toilet . That is unless this whole climate change thing really is a farce and demand for beef will continue to grow . It’s interesting lol

mallee, saddened and sorry to hear about your daughter, a person who grew up on a farm. Hopefully over time as she matures, you'll be able to win her back.
It doesn't take long for people to loss their farming heritage. I know, my sister's(who grew up on our farm) children are lost already. She even brought them out to the farm as youngsters, but it's amazing what 12 years, and another 4 or 5 years post grad, in the "education system" will do to people. You can't talk or explain anything now, as "their educated", and brighter than you, and have the newest information, even though you may have gone to university yourself years back. It's sick what is being done to our youth, and if they don't fall in with the others, they'll have a rough time of it.
Just heard/discovered the other day that Melbourne is such a radical hotbed, sorta like Seattle, or San Francisco.

There has been a failure on the part of our industry( and I don’t even know how to classify the word OUR industry is it is farmers is it those feeding off us financially and literally) to clearly show how we benefit society. Although as if we should be needing to explain that food from the earth is necessary for survival, lack of it has caused wars famines.

The people that have the public’s ear which is the supermarket and big business are too occupied with giving us the least amount of money and making the most off it rather than explaining the good our industry has done. Having organic a higher price tells people that it must be better when in fact as in the case of organic shrimp all it means is they’re eating human shit? Lol must be a premium for that.

NOV 15 - 2018: A recent report by the UN's Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change emphasized the need for people to consume about 30% less animal products. Eating less meat is one of a number of mitigation strategies suggested by the IPCC to overhaul agricultural and land-use practices, including the protection of forests. A study last month predicted that as a result of population growth and the continued consumption of large amounts of red meat and processed food in the West, the environmental pressures from the food system could increase by up to 90% by 2050. Conundrum for some of the farmer apostles of climate change. How can anyone quote the IPCC as gospel and not do their part to consume 30% less animal products?

Because, these gullible socialists all believe in the false premise of social license, in spite of overwhelming evidence that the eco terrorists will never be satisfied.

I have to clarify have ZERO issue with organic farmers have 2 good friends who do it and another who does organic lamb.

One of the above does whole chain right through to flour all processed on his farm with about 20 staff works well.

Its becoming increasingly difficult for organic we have a weed here called wild radish or Raphanus raphanistrum really causing organic farmers issues and traditional farmers as well.

Its just the militant dickheads who try to push there beliefs and really have zero understanding of farming.
