    Special forces

Trudope govt is now slashing pay for special forces troops who have been injured physically or mentally. If they are injured for more than six months the govt will claw back their pay. Supposedly after the next six months they could lose 23000.00. What a ****in bunch of assholes and what an insult to the men and women who protect this country. Trudope will stand up and be all righteous on remembrance day then turn around and basically tell our military to ****off. This prick has no problem paying terrorists millions of dollars but screwing our soldiers I think this is an act of treason and this prick needs to be jailed.

So just so I understand what you are saying: If you have a full time salaried employee on your farm who you pay a harvest bonus too for the longer hours and 7 day a week work should get hurt in the spring and is off work for a year, as a good employer you continue to pay his salary (likely through insurance) but you also feel he deserves to be paid his (uninsured) harvest bonus even if he does not do a days work in harvest?
A contractor agrees to build a road and will receive a bonus if done before a certain date. Due to employee injury he cannot meet the bonus deadline. But you feel he should still get the bonus because if the injury had not occurred he would have earned the bonus?
If a full time teacher gets a bonus payment for after school coaching, but for personal reasons cannot coach one year, you feel they should still get the bonus for the year they do not coach because they received it when they were coaching?
If a pro hockey player who has a bonus in his contract for scoring X number of goals gets hurt he should not only continue to get his salary but also paid his bonus because he might have scored goals?

The soldier is continuing to get paid at the rate of every other soldier of his rank and experience, just not the danger pay associated with specialized work he is unable to do and which someone else must now do and get paid the bonus for.

      Sounds pretty socialist to me.

You complain about high taxes and debt, yet you scream when bonus money is not paid even if the work is not done.

These are soldiers that are being talked about not nhl players or grader operators. Remove your head from your ass please. These men and women will still fight for you regardless of your political affiliation. My neighbor is ex special forces. Maybe you should talk to some of these people. It will rattle you.

You should thank God you don't have to deal with the people they had to for your benefit.

You don't put your life on the line for a farm job or if you see your coworkers head blown apart by a bullet I think you are entitled to a little more compensation. You sir are a dick.

I believe soldiers are under paid and under appreciated. I also agree with danger pay for soldier involved in combat, and even paid for dangerous duty.

What I disagree with is turning this fight into political mudslinging just because you dislike the current PM.

Instead of insults, I want to know your solution. Do you feel the danger pay bonus should be ended and every soldier be paid an additional $46,000.00 a year whether they are in danger or not; because that seems to be what you want? And really is simply turning this bonus into higher salary enough? I still would not want to do what they do given that wage. Maybe to hell with the budget, lets pay all soldiers a million a year regardless of what they do or if they are even capable of it.

If trudope can find millions to pay terrorists or let in thousands of illegals I'm sure we can pay our military.

The pendulum on bonus pay has swung to the ridiculous. Now every one feels entitled to bonus pay regardless if they earn it or not. If you got it once, it seems it is expected.

Consider that in 2016 the top 6 executives at Bombadier earned $32.6 million in bonuses even though the company lost a billion and shareholders took it on the chin.

And I am sure given the date that many of you will blame the current government for this company's decision, remember in 2012 Canada Post paid 7400 employees bonuses in spite of having lost 327 million dollars, the first loss for the corporation in 16 years.

Or in 2009 the Canada Pension Plan Investment Board paid its top executives 7 million in bonuses even though it lost $24.0 billion dollars of taxpayers pensions.

I have no problem paying bonuses when they are earned or tips for good service. I do have a problem when I am expected to pay for service when none is being provided. It is almost as big a problem as when people politicise arguments which they do not actually believe in or support in any other circumstances.

Farm.. Your right and I apologize to the forum but SofaKing reply really p..... me off. But bonus compensation, regardless of whether or not it was earned or of the end result, is a sore point with me. AS I said I am all for paying danger pay when soldiers are in dangerous situations and I support higher wages for our servicemen. But I do not support bonus pay when it is not earned.

I think we have to take care of those that risk their lives for the freedom of our country.....what should the compensation be .....that's well past my pay grade but will say I appreciate what they do....not sure why we put them in harms way and then let the enemy into our country but that's another conversation....
