I got to admit, the moral outrage by most replies to this post is hilarious. I simply observed twitter exploding with conspiracy theories about the death of Ginsberg and wondered how the theorists on this list would respond. I was not disappointed. From accusing me to attacking trump, to being the bottom of the barrel thread, to AF5 trying to highjack the tread to climate change and his favorite topic of attacking Chuck.

I note that some of the same outraged replies were made by posters who on the same day have no problem espousing equal ridiculous conspiracy theories but aimed at the left. For example on the so much for a fall election thread regarding the Covid diagnosis of two premiers Partners wrote:
    Watch any movies?
    They were infected on purpose..
Nothing is beyond the turdo gang of thieves
    and Jazz wrote
The virus is a great excuse for anything. 2 leaders infected the same day. What a coincidence.
This reaction mirrors the decision of Mitch McConnel to seat a new judge less than 2 months before the election when he would not even call a vote 9 months before when a justice died under Obama's watch. Pure hypocrisy at its finest.

And the same thing applies on this thread. If you do not like this conspiracy theory, why are you throwing out ones attacking your PM, or Liberals? If you do not like name calling, why are you continually referring to lefties, Marxists and socialists, BLM etc in your own postings. Instead of just blaming Antifa, present some proof that Antifa is actually responsible more than just the person was dressed in black. If you expect posters to be civil on this site, best start by being civil in your own posts, or STFU

          I will respond with decorum.

dml, after what the left tried to pull in the US on Trump, (Russia, Impeachment, Mueller, Kavanagh, Covid, MSM dogs), they deserve no quarter so spare me the hypocrisy bit. The left live in that world.

Obama was a lame duck president trying to stack every court in the nation. The US usually flips congress and president after 8yr terms. McConnell was right on track. Trump barely had a first term.

Ginsberg was offered a chance to retire in 2014 and he could have got another liberal judge on the bench, but they thought Hillary would win.

Jazz, every president has the right to appoint federal judges who step down during their term So yes, Obama did appoint judges just as Trump is doing. In fact in 8 years, Obama appointed 312 judges who are currently active. In less than 4 years Trump has appointed 194 judges a higher rate than Obama.

More interesting, if you look at federal appeal appointments (the second highest courts in the land and where most appeal cases end), Trump has appointed more appeal justices than any president since Jimmy Carter.

So while your statement is true it is only part of the story. https://www.pewresearch.org/fact-tank/2020/07/15/how-trump-compares-with-other-recent-presidents-in-appointing-federal-judges/ https://www.pewresearch.org/fact-tank/2020/07/15/how-trump-compares-with-other-recent-presidents-in-appointing-federal-judges/

There should not be two sets of rules for appointing a supreme court judge. Rules the Republican Senate set re timing before an election should also apply to their judical picks. Anyone who thinks otherwise is a hypocrite.

And in other news, we live in Canada, under the Canadian justice system, ruled by Canadian politicians. So far at least. Why do the folks most opposed to becoming US states seem to be most preoccupied with US politics?

Is the Canadian system beyond reproach?

Just hold that though for a few days and see what the left has in store.

Pelosi already talking about bringing out another impeachment right before the election.

I am afraid politics is no longer fair play and its the GOPs turn to get dirty. The dems sure didnt hesitate and now crying foul is just as hypocritical.

If the Supreme Court position is to be filled before the US votes for its next Federal slate, then one of the best methods for the Democrats is to hold a new impeachment trial which also delays that seating. The Senate has to hold the impeachment process before all other business including filling a Supreme Court seat. That runs out the clock, and lets the people decide in the General election about their Supreme Court.

                    It's smart politics, period.

The rush shows TOP (GOP) has not the confidence that he can win the next presidency, hold the Senate, and appoint a Justice. It screams weakness.

                      .
Not so fast. The senate has until January 21 to confirm the pick. That's 4 months away. That's a long time to drag out an impeachment during which house members will have to be in DC including VP pick Harris.

Senate doesn't have to take up any impeachment business until the articles are delivered to the house.

You think the people won't notice a sham impeachment? By delaying the justice pick they will give Trump a landslide and he will get the pick anyway.

This thread just proves how low people will go to manipulate a situation and also proves how dumb both sides of the political spectrum have become. Just becomes tiring to hear the same crazy ass conspiracy theories. She was old, sick and died. The end.
