So who isn't concerned about rising costs of everything?

The Cons want to lower gas taxes for everyone rich or poor whether they need it nor not. But many of the lowest income people don't own a car or even drive. So how would they benefit?

The NDP wants to target income support to the the lowest income Canadians which need help making ends meet for rent and food and other basics.

The Cons only care about winning more votes with their cut the gas tax offering. Their policy would do nothing to help the poorest Canadians.

But they obviously don't care about supporting the most vulnerable with an ineffective and more expensive policy.

Inflation is a monetary phenomenon. It comes from too much money printing - MMT. Justin printed up $650B and sloppy Joe printed up another 10T in the past 2 yrs.

To reign in inflation, they will have to pull back the liquidity and to do that will sacrifice the housing market, the stock market and labor markets.

Reap what you sow. And voters too dumb to figure it out. Zero sympathy, I hope they enjoy it.

There are multiple causes of inflation. Energy prices are one of the biggest drivers right now.

But cutting gas taxes doesn't make sense when trying to support the poorest Canadians many of whom don't drive.

Cutting gas taxes will get you more votes and that is why it appeals to Conservatives not because they want to help those who really need help.

On the contrary chuck, I think taxes on fuel should go up much more including a big jump in carbon taxes to $50,000 a ton.

I am so worried about climate change. Trudeau said its a big problem and I follow what he and the science says.

Where have we heard this argument before? Multiple causes?

I remember now. That is the excuse he provides for why electricity costs always go up when unreliable energy is added.

I think the rise in energy costs are the root of inflation. Energy costs have risen because in order to have a plentiful supply of energy there needs to be a steady investment in exploration and development, even renewables as well. With worldwide vilification of fossil fuels a lot of money left, cooling demand and near collapse of demand during Covid further kept a lid on things. Now with this war going on and no sizeable alternative suppliers because of what is aforementioned we have high energy costs. Worst time to be decarbonizing the world.

Inflation gets to a point it gets worse because everyone builds it in.

Wage contacts won't settle without bigger increases in upcoming years.

Retail margins have to go up to cover anticipated extra cost.

Commodity futures go up because speculators expect higher prices.

Let me get this straight, Jagmeet Singh wants an excess profit tax applied to the most profitable corporations(Pfizer maybe) and then redistribute this money to the lowest income earners. This won’t buy any votes? Would this increased money going from government to consumers fuel more inflation?

Where’s the logic? The government has killed the fossil-fuel industry, replaced gas and diesel with ethanol and bio diesel so guess what——— fuel supply tightens and fuel sky-rockets and grain supplies are depleted and food costs follow. Surprise-Surprise, but it’s not the government’s fault. BS Not to mention that these same dufus governments have increased the money supply exponentially and have giving away free money like drunken sailors but oh no - not our fault.

                            It’s 100 % their fault.

Trudeau’s speech to Afzaal Family in London on CTV. Declaring we are all part of the Afzaal Family, good grief. He doesn’t need to write a book on how to divide a nation and incite hate.

London CTV News: Trudeau said,” We are all Muslims in Canada. We are all Afzaal family members in Canada.”
