Not that it changes the outcome but we've done the following to help assess the degree of damage.
Cut off some plants just above the last node and stick those stems with head intact into a glass of water with food colouring, usually red works well. After 24 hours you can see where the solution has or hasn't been drawn up into the living or dead/frozen parts of the head

First, we have to get it out of the ground.

Do you have a tip for that?!!!!!

Does Kansas grow as much wheat as all of Canukistan? Most of us have experienced frost at a later stage than these pictures. Experience tells us that the damage doesn’t look too bad until a week or two of heat, and even more telling in the grain tank.

When the Midge left the heads empty here you didn't have to get out of the truck as the heads stood straight up, never necked over.
Made a big fluffy swath that burned real clean.

that and when it dries down for harvest,,, it all shrivels down to not much more than bran.

Sunshine -highs of 12c - 18c for the week, more 12c than 18c, lows -3c - 3c, more negatives than positives.

Yay! - faith will win out - not, as in, won't help. In garden chatter, cucumbers are up, but they are cool as a ...!
