Shit for brains, Its tRumps trade war and self inflicted energy crisis that is currently dragging down Canada's economy and the rest of the worlds as well.

tRump is killing economic growth with his stupidity.

So get the whole story instead of fixating on short term politics.

Didn't Carney say we had the best trade deal in the world with the USA?
Right off his official PM website from his speech in NYC.
" Canada's preferential trade access to 1.5 billion consumers alongside policies like the "Productivity Super-Deduction" to create the most competitive business tax environment in the G7"

Someone must have figured something wrong.
How can we have the best deal with the USA, the smartest banker/ climate activitist, the fastest growing economy and be the only economy in the G7 in recession?

Is somebody lying?

A lot of the GDP per capita decline was because of rapid population growth.

Canada’s overall real GDP is projected to grow by approximately \(1.5\%\) in 2026, ranking it among the strongest in the G7. However, this aggregate growth is heavily driven by rapid population increases. When adjusted on a per-capita basis, Canada lags significantly behind its G7 peers. Total GDP Growth (Aggregate)
In terms of overall economic growth, Canada generally performs well relative to the rest of the G7. [1 (https://www.fraserinstitute.org/commentary/finance-minister-misleading-canadians-about-economic-growth)]
• Projected Growth: Canada's real GDP growth is estimated at roughly \(1.5\%\) for 2026, placing it second only to the United States among G7 nations. [1 (https://www.fraserinstitute.org/commentary/finance-minister-misleading-canadians-about-economic-growth), 2 (https://www.worldometers.info/gdp/gdp-by-country/)]
• Historical Context: Over the past decade, Canada’s post-pandemic recovery and aggregate expansion have been the second-strongest in the G7, trailing only the U.S.. Per Capita GDP (Standard of Living)

While Canada's total economic pie is growing, its economic output per person presents a starkly different reality. • The "Lost Decade": Canada has experienced prolonged stagnation in real GDP per capita, making it one of the weakest performers on this metric in the G7. The Population Effect: Historic population surges (fuelled primarily by immigration and temporary residents) have outpaced the country's total economic output. As a result, the average Canadian’s share of the GDP has been shrinking. And the fact that Canada is in a technical recession after 2 quarters of negative growth and in 3 of the last 4 quarters Canada’s economy has experienced negative growth is all because of rapid population growth? Even with a new Prime Minister, a renowned economist, with a bigger deficit than even Justin Trudeau could muster? Since 2015 the U.S. gdp has grown 20%, Canada’s 3.2%, because we were governed by an economically illiterate Prime Minister and interestingly enough one of his prime economic advisors in the last term of his tenure was none other than our present Prime Minister!!!! Yup it was all due to population growth?!?!

Mass immigration was the LPC's only real economic policy for a decade.
More immigrants, more demand for goods and services they need to start a new life.
Was a way to make the GDP look like it was growing but productivity tanked as most are underemployed.
They have choked down the immigration somewhat exposing what a disaster their economic policy is.
Will probably take 10 yrs to see any effects of cleaning that mess up.
Carney is trying to pretend he had nothing to do with it, but won't fix the regulatory. Likes to talk about his "new" governmnet.

Isn't there a saying " A picture is worth a thousand word" ?

You just keep pasting the huge articles that nobody reads.
