All the paid lieberal influencers herein ought to take note that if canuckistan had a decent electoral system, PP would be the PM. 4 lieberal mp's from pei? seriously? If it was representation by population then pei would only have 2 mp's which would cut the lieberal seat numbers. That way all you chucks would have to earn a living.Last edited by ajl; Apr 9, 2026, 21:39.

Let’s not forget Poilievre won the CPC leadership with 87% of the vote. I like him personally. No I am not a party member.
I understand that there are some people that don’t like him, but the people that don’t like him probably are not CPC voters anyway, the same way I think Trudeau and Carney are horrendous and would never vote Lib either.

I buy far more books than I can read completely.
Got part way through Andrew Coyne's book this winter.
Now, I don't agree with him on several issues. But the ranking of all democracies comparatively left Canada nearer the bottom. And he was just quoting that.
CC is partially correct. This has been a slide over generations involving Both parties. The power of the Prime Ministers Office is the most unchecked in the Commonwealth. Our Senate the most neutered.
The Liberal party has has now mastered the art of power in this country. They have ruled for nearly 2/3 of our history and have another several years of guaranteed reign. The levers they have built are omnipresent. A matured ruling class if you can stomach that word. One can admire their technique.
Most people don't care to know or learn so here we are. This has been evolving over a long time.
Remember, both main parties guilty. Sadly, I don't think the NDP have disappeared. They will need to keep the fringe alive for seed, even if too radical for the Libs.
Preston Manning went East in innocence and expired. Stephen Harper went East and quickly learned how it's really done in Canada.
So, if I wanted some table scraps and a good job after retirement, who would I side with. Idiot Justin, bridesmaid Pierre, or someone who knows who the Kings are on the chess board?
True democracy? My arse.

The LPC has mastered the art of the Pork Barrel.
They always take care of their friends.
They have all the Judges, the leader of Military, RCMP, CBC, and who knows what else.
Fill all management everywhere with DEI and everything rolls along just the way they like it with believers in charge.
If a good person is rising through the ranks now you hit a dead end if you don't fit the profile.
All the floor crossers can't pass on the opportunity.
Keep yelling at the sky, or follow the money and get taken care of for generations.
The art of power with writing cheques and passing put favors.
Just keep telling the rubes anything they want to hear.

Steven Harper and Pierre Poilievre voted against banning floor crossing. They are in favour of floor crossings when it benefits them, not so much when it doesn't.
Compared to the US our democracy is far better and far from dead. No system is perfect but to complain because your team hasn't won in a while is just sour g****s. Carney just keeps outplaying poor PP who seems not to get why?
A wide swath of the voters think Carney and the Liberals are far better than the alternative who had a hard time calling out tRump at a time when the vast majority of Canadians hate tRump.
Untill the CPC gets rid of its tRump friendly MAGA base they will not win an election and will continue to lose MPs.

Chuck2, Marilyn Gladu a Liberal? She is just as far from Liberal ideology as I am. I think all these floor crossings make a mockery of my vote. Why vote? Obviously the MP doesn’t give a damn who voted for you or why and neither does the Prime Minister. And yes the opportunity existed in 2012 to change the system, how did all the Liberal’s and NDP of the time vote?Originally posted by chuckChuck View PostWhat short memories some Conservatives have!
"On February 8, 2012, the majority of the Conservative caucus, including Pierre Poilievre, voted against Bill C-306. This private member's bill sought to amend the Parliament of Canada Act to require MPs who changed parties to vacate their seat and contest a by-election. The bill was defeated 181-91".
Now he is whining about losing so many MPs because he is a dud and can hardly criticize donny dumpster?
A large part of the CPC party are MAGA tRump supporters. There is no way they will win any election untill they smarten up and stand up for Canada!

Ask PP why he voted against banning floor crossing then? LOL
If it was Liberals going his way he wouldn't say a thing!
They all do it. And they have to face the electorate next election.
Carney would have called an election shortly and won any way. The Liberals are 10 points ahead and PP is a dead duck!
Support for the CPC is falling apart because they don't have a good leader and Carney has pulled the political rug out from under them.

We dont need a CPC party that supports MAGA and tRump in Canada. That is their biggest problem!
ABC until they get rid of the far right MAGA types! They can form their own far right party with Mad Max!
