All iconic collector cars.
Tough to pick, but if my fairy godmother said pic one it would have to be the Mustang as it is the most collectable for many reasons.
If I was buying it would probably be the vette as it is a cruiser great for Sunday drives or a trip to the city. More affordable.
I cruised around one Sunday afternoon in a 62 vette with the top off.
The guy had recently bought it for $2600.
When you sit in one and see the detail in the interior you might fall in love.
I had a 70 Chevelle that was great fun for drag racing but nothing like those old vettes for cruising.
The old muscle cars were geared so stiff you always wished for an OD gear when traveling as the engine was running near 3000 rpm.Last edited by shtferbrains; Mar 11, 2026, 10:28.

Kinda over all that I'm afraid
But. The vette had IRS since '63, decades before the others. It's diff slightly higher than the centre of frame. The harder you torque, the more the back end would suck to ground. My stock '78 L48 couldn't wipe her feet if she tried, but would take most corners at nearly double posted limit. Still pass better than anything I own today. A "sports car" for it's time if you will. Not a souped up sedan.
I realize vettes don't have the sex appeal the others do, but they were built for fun and handle son. iykyk.
PS. And my 6'6" frame fit quite comfortably as well, unlike most cars.Last edited by blackpowder; Mar 11, 2026, 12:35.

The thought of the carbs and distributor drives on those big Fords has me gagging a little. Unless the Boss were more reliable than what they had in bigger trucks. 9 out of 10 were GMs for a reason.Originally posted by A990 View Post
...you'd pick that over a boss 429? You must be crazy...lol!
Now, the new Holley Snipers look interesting, anyone have?

A genie granted me one wish. I wished to be happy. I find myself living with six other dwarfs, working in a mine and singing all the time.

.. as galaxie was saying the 429 bosses were a bit of a dissapointment power wise. They were introduced mainly to get them into nascar to compete with 426 hemis but rules were changing and they were short lived.Originally posted by blackpowder View Post

Not sure exactly why the factory boss was down on power (i think in nascar they made enough power).... i can speak a bit about the 426's tho...the head would flow lots of air but high compression piston domes were so big it interfered with flame travel. So much that they could make more power with less compression. and the valvetrain was heavy and complicated.
I've got a 370 in one of my old grain trucks and can testify its a dog! doesn't get much use.
Efi is the future for sure...my one car has port injection and a Big stuff3 fuell injection....state of the art 15 years ago...not so much anymore.i want to swap to a holley dominator ....
...snipers as far as i know are pretty good...any bugs they had are pretty much worked out....thing about holley is there's lots of support.... lots of people can help sort problems
