Is Norway a failure with their $1.3 trillion sovereign wealth fund and a bigger share of the oil companies profits? Hell no!

One of the richest countries on earth one of the best places to live!

You guys need to get out more!

In Canada we give resource companies sweet heart deals and they still complain!

Don't let politicians with close ties to the resource sector give in so easily. Norway sure as hell didn't. They stood up for their citizens.

You've posted this about Norway a few hundred time before, but I think this might be the first time that you did it on the same day as warning us about how terrible it would be if Government wasted taxpayer money on a Oil pipeline.

Do you want a nationalized government run industry like Norway, or is it a waste of taxpayer money if they get involved in any way?

Norway charges large royalties. Have since they found oil.

                Highest standard of living.
                Free everything.
Huge taxes but nobody cares because its so awesome to have free everything.

Steady ed stelmach ( grain farmer from lamont county) TALKED about increasing royalties and half his party walked across the floor.

Oil and gas is so far engrained in our govt that there is no hope of ever extracting anything more.
                christ.

Oil and gas companies currently owe 250 ish million in back taxes across alberta. TAXES.

                Thats NOT including rent.

I didnt get paid in 2024 for some wellsites. Cant lock the gate. Cant sell the oil. I own a couple pumpjacks now tho.. guess ill sell them for scrap metal.

                What a bunch of horsecrap.

Then we want taxpayer money going to these companies?

If oil companies are willing to operate in Norway and pay more taxes and royalties why did Alberta have to go so low?

Because 40 years of Conservative oil friendly governments let the oil companies extract more profit and dictate policy instead of standing up for the citizen owners of the resource.

In Alberta they haven't even set enough money aside to clean up all the abandoned oil wells let alone the tar sands.

That's is massive policy failure when you let oil companies walk away with large profits and leave the taxpayers and landowners with the liability for clean up.

So users should pay for the "free" road system in Saskatchewan? And for healthcare and education? The 2 biggest budget items.
