American culture in general, and specifically gun culture, is a study far beyond this scope. It was a bolt action this time by the way.
Murder is murder. But by a completely unhinged mind is troubling to comprehend. No avoidance or defense strategy against that. Ironic it's the Tower anniversary.
Online bickering and rabbit holes seem as much a part of the equation as anything. Selective twisting of the statistics and choosing which murders to focus on is also a part of the issue.
Murders not caught on camera seem less important. Reverence and reflection seem lost traits, in themselves louder than the din.

It would be acceptable to just offer your condolences to the family. Not everything has to be about scoring political points for your team.
