Spain can do this because of an entirely different climate than Canada 8 months of the year

also literally now snow or cold that effects everything electric

And as Spain has proven this spring, by crashing the grid and causing a nation wide blackout, even with their climate, they can't do it. Imagine if that happened in Canada in January.

That and the absolute fact that chuck continues to bring up low cost generation but yet everywhere in the world that is running hard on renewable energy the consumer cost is very high

Chuck , show the cost relation from Spain to Canada spread out over 365 days a year based on output

i dont undedstand why we have people bashing this. Its stupid to do so.

dont throw out the " ohhh they get more sunlight" ( they dont) or the .. " they have so much less snow" which is true.

the question we need to answer as canadians is. ..

HOW. HOW DID THEY DO THIS?

Our system is so effed that even if we had double the amount of generation... somehow our prices wouls continue to go UP. And why is it so expensive for us to do this? Tariffs on solar panels?
location to building materials? Labor cost?

WHY THE EFF WOULDNT WE WANT THIS?

And for those of us who bash the chucks... ( i get it. I do get it.. really. I do)

Do ANY of us that dont care for the chucks of the world.. firmly... and adamantly believe that burning gas and diesel is the BEST THING for our earth and our kids?

If you answer yes.... i call bull.

HOW DID SPAIN do this? Thats all that matters.
It’s stupid to be pushing solar farms in Canada.
              your post misses Nuclear
and Yes Spain gets more sunlight without doubt , you know better

Europe push’s solar for two reasons ….
they have very limited oil and gas other the Norway
obviously as Chuck has generously pointed out a hindered times, energy companies make a fortune with free fuel and huge consumer costs

Chuck isn't completely wrong in spreading this propaganda that more renewables will lower electricity costs in Spain.

Every time unreliables cause another blackout, the power meter stops turning. Add more unreliables, there will be more blackouts and more extended periods when consumers don't pay for electricity because the grid is crashed.

So gas plants in Alberta don't shut down unexpectedly and need repairs?

Several went offline during the last electricity shortage.

Sask Power has no end of local outages and equipment failures that have nothing to do with renewables.

Just more uninformed blather from the Alberta anti renewable electricity complainers!
