I could argue that the current system of home ownership is just long term rental in which the maintenance costs are downloaded onto the unwitting tenant.

25 year mortgage, often refinanced and extended for an entire career.

If not for appreciation thanks to irresponsible fiscal policy, renting would be far preferable.

And apparently you weren't aware that Alberta still uses the same currency as the rest of Canada. Alberta does not set its own interest rates, and can't finance its deficits with money printing.
Of course it is the same policies here as in the rest of Canada One of the prime motivations for getting out of here.

Actually that is something I might say. I guess you have me figured out. Only I might not limit the fishing to once a year, and I don’t feel I have the means to afford my own airplane. On the other hand if you need therapy by all means go get it.

You eagerly pointed out 'irresponsible fiscal policy" regarding appreciation on primary residence, I'm pointing out the same can be said for farm land appreciation as well.

Which of course the difference being you were able to use government programs to help finance the puchase of 'productive business asset' of which you fully took advantage as you posted in the past.
