I doubt this 25% tariff goes through but if it does, an American will likely provide that same product in the states for less than the tariff, just remember they don’t have an insane carbon tax.

some products can’t be realistically produced and I’ll bet those products won’t be tariffed.

if you sold.. say.. cars.. and your neighbour sold insurance for cars... so u guys had a handshake to send all the new car owners to him so he could sell them insurance. After a yr youve sold 10 cars and have sent 8 owners over to him. Not bad.
but after 5 yrs youve sold 50 cars.. but have slowed down and only sent him 20 new owners.
thats a trade deficit in simple terms.

are you aware that the usa has a tariff on solar panels coming into the usa and that biden actually INCREASED the general tariff on 300 billion worth of chinese made goods... and added another tariff to 18 billion worth of chinese made goods?

It isnt the answer.. however.. as its been proven that tariffs generally have a net negative effect on economy ( although usually offset by a rising american dollar so consumer purchasing power is stronger).

I feel like this is just one of his " tactics" to get the countried talking and hammer out some sort of new deal.. or to placate his base ( which ironically if considered to be more blue collar, could be hurt more. Its estimated by us economists that manufacturing jobs from steel outweigh steel producing jobs by 80 to 1)
