The vaccines were very effective at preventing serious illness and reducing transmission!

Just like vaccines are used for other diseases.

        A5.
If you have the chance, read the November 2017 edition of Smithsonian Magazine. The Next Pandemic.
Traced origins of the 1918 influenza.
        Predicted origins of 2019.
Mock exercises for dealing with it predicted issues. Lessons ignored.

I will check that out one day.
On this topic, I recently learned that the 1918 pandemic was made much worse by the generous use of newly invented aspirin. Even without the internet to spread rumours, people heard that Aspirin was good for treating the flu. If a little is good, a lot must be better. So they took them by the handful, and died from Aspirin overdose instead.

            Everything old is new again.

And how few people are able take off their ideological blinders long enough to recognize that.
Both sides were making bold pronouncements long before any data was even available.

Just because one side was proven more right than the other in the end, doesn't make the earlier lies any less egregious.
