Just wondering Furrow if helicopter rotor turbulence disturbs the spray pattern as speed and height changes?

Yes , I have seen them tilt the chopper to keep the spray down and into the crop if need be when winds pick up
they are now $14-15 / ac
getting pricey for sure but on certain fields it might be the only logical way other than a drone if available

What's the appeal over a turbo prop plane with much larger tank and much wider boom?

Always seems the outfits with the tiny tanks will cheat on the gpa?

From what we seen it’s just who is available at the time it’s needed . Both work similar , I think the chopper can drive the spray into the crop better
both use 4 gal / ac

Ground rigs probably still better coverage but in wet fields sometimes we feel it’s far better to not have ruts and tracks . A few fields have lots of potholes that we can generally go through . Not the case this year , so to avoid getting stuck and or making a mess for fall and trampling way too much it’s better to get it done by air , wether it’s drones , planes or choppers they all are similar imo
it’s just who is available when your crop is ready

We put the cutter bees out last night into a swamp. When they are ready they have to go. It was so muddy the trailer wheels would plug with mud and drag around the field! Did not matter which where we were in the field the frogs were roaring.,
Just makes me think back to an episode of the Nature of Things with David Suzuki years ago during some fairly dry years. David went on about all the pesticides that farmers were spraying had destroyed the frog population on the Canadian Prairies and how frogs were the Canary in the coal mine for our health. Frogs have thin skin and are really sensitive to pesticides.
Being dry at the time and thinking I hadn’t heard many frogs maybe he was right.
Then wet years returned and frogs were everywhere.
All these years later I can report that the frog population is just fine and flourishing.

Besides bad storms , the topic of discussion of definitely mosquitoes
Out checking for hail damage earlier this morning, did not get out of truck
Literally thousands swarming the door as soon as you stop , might be hard to see, but it’s crazy
