Had Sask energy locate a gas line for me a few years ago. The guy that came out is my next door neighbor. Said the gas line was as little as 12 in deep in spots. How it has survived this long is a mystery.

I pulled into a plant site once, and the inspector handed me a short frayed piece of phone line with hundreds of broken wires sticking out. Asked me to take the incriminating evidence with me and throw it far away as I could.
I never did find out if he was serious or not.
Around here they don't even bury the phone lines anymore. Just string them along the ditch or fence when something goes wrong with the old one.
I caught one with the discbine. Myself and the neighbors have cut quite a few and no one has ever complained or repaired them.
