Yes private businesses were shut down and their businesses were hurt as the convoy blockade blocked street access and local residents and customers were harassed on the street and in their own homes.

So if your neighbors or a animal rights group blocks your access to a public road and prevents you from going about your daily business, are you going to say that it is okay too? Not a chance.

It was provincial governments that enforced the vast majority of covid measures and restrictions so I am not sure why the protestors were blocking streets in Ottawa. I guess they can't tell the difference between provincial and federal jurisdiction? LOL
