Cancer vaccines are coming.

I am going to play devil’s advocate here. There is a momentous push in research to cure cancer and other serious illnesses with gene therapy. In the case of Jak2 Myelo Fibrosis a gene called Jak2 has been damaged possibly by fumes from Benzenes or by accidental radiation. The damage destroys your ability to make complete blood cells and to instead have your new blood cells deposited in your bone marrow as hard growths. Car T cell research is trying to teach your cells to make good complete blood cells instead. I suspect, (because I am not a doctor involved in the research) that they will have to implant new DNA/RNA to do the job. At present, they kill your bone marrow and infuse with donor cells and the process is tough-tough-tough and hit and miss, costing possibly a million dollars. I think genetic research and possibly injections could be a miracle cure for many genetic ailment’s. Who knows, Cystic Fibrosis and many other conditions may be waiting for this technology - time will tell. I am not totally sceptical, I have seen the benefits of research and great medical teams in Saskatoon.

I believe that is the correct take on this topic. Personally, I remain optimistic about the future of this technology, and the possibilities such as those you listed.
Unfortunately, the disastrous handling of the covid 19 vaccine, may have done irreparable harm to the reputation of this technology. I hope this won't cost unnecessary lives in the future as people are either scared of life saving vaccines, or if regulators raise the bar too high to avoid another catastrophe such as the Covid vaccine. The blood will be on the hands of those who supported this.

How was it a catastrophe? Was is just poor public relations? Was it because it stirred up the conspiracy theorists. It was captive to a constant stream of misinformation.
