My neighbor tells me things are not all that rosy in the hog business. The futures look very bleak with prices falling as low as $.77/kilo in the fourth quarter. He says breakeven is $1.32/kilo. Now what are the implications of this price? Will barley track downwards to reflect this drop? Or once again will the hog producer bite the bullet and lose big time? I'm sure glad I don't own a pig barn!
