Windows 2000 released

Microsoft released its latest computer operating system, Windows 2000, Thursday. The new system is not an upgrade of Windows 98, but rather is a replacement for Microsoft's business and network platform, Windows NT. Home users who want to upgrade their computer operating systems will need to wait for Windows Millennium Edition, which is expected to be released later this year. The high-end Windows 2000 comes in four versions, all of which are optimized for computer networks, and require a lot of hard drive space, RAM, and processing power to run optimally. The new software is reportedly much more stable on notebook computers.
