Unfortunately yes , this one going to be bad for many
ahhhh , farming sooooo easy …
keep chin up , most of us here that actually farm have been through a lot of shit , but this is definitely up there on the bad pile for many of you
Time will tell here in the next 24 hours , depending on how this system finishes
We are sitting on a great one , but it too could be a wreck .
we have had our fair share of shit sandwiches the past 5-6 years , but still ok compared to others in SW Saskatchewan

Can see lots of standing water in combined fields, where a guy wont be able to see it is the standing canola until the combine is in it.

I remember back in the early 90’s about the 10th of September I started swathing my feed barley. On the 3rd round the swather broke down. The next day it started to rain. It never dried up enough until the first week of October to swath the rest. The 3 outside rounds never did get below 18 moisture, the rest we combined dry. I was lucky the swather broke. Certainly glad we straight cut our cereals now, much better results.
That was 2009 for me. Had about 50 acres of oats swathed, just got started combining when the weather turned. Rained and then snowed was able to take off about 30 acres that I had left standing dry late that fall. The oats in the swath were so full of deer crap they weren’t worth harvesting and were burned the next spring. Canola took off dry in November at night on the frozen ground.

3 in plus it's back to being wet really wet. 2027 looks like it has potential now.

This rain event filled the cracks for sure. 2 inches here and more predicted for today, though there’s no sign of red and purple blotches on radar- yet. There are reports of 3.5 inches at Francis and 3 in Regina. It will be a different harvest now. We haven’t been really wet for many years.

Maybe it was smart to have 4-wheel Need drive on the X9 s this time.

Total canola production is dropping everyday , yields don’t increase with rains this time of year and definitely will be decreasing after the past 2 weeks of flooding , winds and hail .
                      Just an unfortunate reality
