Seed pod weevil damage is showing up huge. Canola is getting it from all sides. Lots of money spent spraying canola this year.

Canola council recommends waiting till 10% flower, I think they are out to lunch was getting 5x to 10x threshold in early bud and silenced em. They never came back.

One of the chiefs of fcc is coming out next week for a visit to edmonton area. Hes doing a quick farm tour to see how ugly the area is and we got volunteered.

Im gonna mention lowering their interest rates a solid....11 to 34 times.

Interestingly enough i was told that FCC was the first crew to request loan repayment from Monette Farms and thats what started the whole she -bang.

Harvest , other than getting stuck, will be a breeze.
basically 60 % of our acres will be combined with a disc.

At the very least get the Monette rate. Something like 1% below prime and principal written off.

Every farmer should copy their MO . If they manage their way out of this clusterphuck.

Our family has travelled Sask from Greenwater over to Saskatoon, down to Madge, around Regina to US border. The amount of green Canola is concerning. With cool, wet weather on its way, it’s even more concerning.

Canola yields definitely been taking a hit in many areas well before harvest begins

Looks like seed pod weevils like good big pods. Where the army worms like the top burnt out ones. One good wind and it will be all out on the ground.
Seems weird that the guys that sprayed for everything now have aphids.

Probably just a coincidence that multiple non selective insecticide applications would result in insect problems.

Long ways from the finish line yet, our first quarters hopefully will be ready to preharvest in about 2 weeks if we can find some warmer weather. June peas are still grass green and could use a drink, maybe tomorrow if the weather cooperates. Canola still green but starting to turn, Bertha started to show up but numbers don’t warrant spraying yet. Wheat and peas look to be above average if we can make it to mid September without a frost, canola I’ll be happy if I can get close to average instead of being in crop insurance territory.

We combined son's winter wheat might hit 60bu and sprayed beans for grasshoppers. Sons monitor froze up day before we where going to use it . Dealer service says a few guys had same thing happen in area the same time they think the combines parked in front of shops getting checked over during the heat caused cab temps to rise and screw up circuit board. My old cat got wheat off before they got his fixed.
