Crop looking ok in my neighborhood, 6 inches of rain over Canada long weekend and nothing since until 2 nights ago, 7/10 in a thunderstorm, actually was welcome. But things are late and will be lucky to beat frost I think.

Financially I’ll take a drought over flood.
A drought usually means early and easy harvest with less wear and tear on equipment.
However the few times in my career when drought was the issue I found it to be very depressing. The accompanying heat, dust and general feeling all around is overbearing.

Nothing here moisture wise in 30 days and counting. Today is a saving grace at only 80° with minimal wind. Yesterday was 95° and a 25mph SW wind. 86, 90, 96 for the next 3 days. We'll beat those temps by 4 or 5° now as the humidity is all but gone.

Crop stinks like curing hay every morning. Working outside trying to fix equipment is essentially self-flagellation.

0.1" of moisture in July. Early crop will be slightly above average, mid to late seeded is getting pummeled. Some spots didn't even bother poking a head out of the boot.

Overall will be average... I hope. Deferred sales WILL NOT be an income tax problem, that's for sure

On drought vs flood... I'll admit, I'll NEVER experience a flood here unless a modern Noah is building an ark. Even then, i might suggest he just come camp here. Both take a toll, financially and mentally. 21, 22, 23, 24 left me wondering whether I'd be able to survive 25 with a modicum of sanity. Next year...
