Never seen a spray drone in real life but watched one on Season 5 Clarkson’s Farm and was impressed. Also the robotic autonomous tractor was super cool. I think someone in southern Alberta is trying to sell them.

No insurance is a non starter for me and basically you can only spray fungicides and insecticides. So not really a replacement for your ground rig.

Fungicide and insecticide on certain fields and certain conditions are a no brainer to use drones
Won’t replace a ground rig yet for most farms in general, especially herbicide time
Here are a few fields we did to eliminate excessive trampling from ground rig .
we had the drones do the bush fields right and left of the wide open 1/4 which we did with the ground rig

Planes and even helicopters are limited in those bush fields.
This is another example of a 90 ac field that was very wet at time of fungicide where we would have had excessive trampling and most likely would have got stuck with ground rig
the field to the south we did with ground rig
drones are a tool in the tool box that can be more sensible in certain situations.
