Obviously, everywhere is different. But with our low organic matter gray wooded soil, exposed soil crusts and cracks and has very very poor water infiltration.

The biggest problem we have had with thick ground cover is it creates prime slug habitat.

Not much of an issue with cereals, just a few stripes on the leaves where they've been feeding. But on canola they will occasionally wipe out an entire patch. Haven't found a good solution in crop. Garden store slug bait around the perimeter of the area at least slows down the spread. But intense harrowing or even pillage of the previously affected areas reduces the problem going forward.

Done Saturday except for a forage project.

A5. Everyone here harrows the crap out of it, ourself included.
So many systems seem to need it. But once a blue moon, she really blows. Literally.

Looks like a prov wide system moving this weekend , hopefully it doesn’t. We need another week to finish as do most here. Can’t seed all night with all the sloughs , some are and it’s not working out very well.

At 71% over normal acres, Canola done...50 acres EXTREME wet left for a week or so, Half wheat in , still water running splitting those quarters yet to plant ...JUST like May 5th! Have a week till insurance!
