Just finished fall fertility, did 3000 ac in 3 days , liquid N with ole 9270 and pull type sprayer
Streamed on 40 lbs / ac N , with stabilizer. Used about 250 gal diesel. Now the seeding outfits can apply what’s required effectively in spring for our particular environment here .
that extra N by custom floating used to cost us about $32,000
a little time and thinking outside the box can save a bit here and there , cause it’s obvious we are not getting any reprieve when the sentiment is no relief from this gong show tariff situation.
We are on our own while every other eastern industry will get protection, nothing new .
Sa la vie , best of luck we are the sacrificial lambs for all other Canadian industries.
God forbid we actually stand up for ourselves in a wealth creating industry in Canada .

Thats a nice way to do it..whats your cost per lb of N tho... i always keep UAN on hand to topdress in spring ... i never found the price come down to a reasonable rate this summer.

We bought this 28 for $425 at the end of July
way cheaper than NH3 now
Agree for sure on the price not coming down for top dressing in season
we tried for years , but 80% of the time it never rained enough or like you said price never came down till way after top dressing was useful

seems to hold very well from soil tested before application in fall and spring when verified
usually 90% ish still there before seeding
1 litre/ tonne
so in a 2400 gal tank , about 11.5 tonne , I add 15 liters to make sure lol

What type of soil do you have? I tried liquid N in the fall with our light soils and the product ended I think in Lake Manitoba by spring. Does the stabilizer make all the difference.

Mostly heavy soil , clay base on most of it
After 4 years now doing it with stabilizer it’s 90-90% still there in spring
we do soil tests before I apply in fall then same areas in spring to verify . Started with a few acres 6 years ago then gradually did all the intended canola acres as results proved it was staying put
the unit has auto boom height and sectional control so easy to run with very little overlap
only stream on areas that are not water prone and use a second low rate on knolls and nothing on saline areas

The ground has been so hard that these rains are taking a long time to soak down. Soil probes show its trickling down but slowly. Mother Nature is a real somethin else. Canola and beans didn’t wanna die and started to regrow in places and made harvest more of a challenge with all the unused nutrients. Fertilizer app is all but halted with no sun to dry off the top layer of dirt. Gonna be a lot of work to do in the spring.

Was quite wet on the west side of farm when I was streaming . Got me thinking of those skinny duals on the pull type . If it were to get any wetter or softer might have to look at big singles or those add on tracks from Madtracks ? I believe . Not sure if they still make them though. Be way cheaper than rims and big tires as the cost of nearly everything is ridiculous now .
could possibly take the 1250’s off the grain cart if absolutely had too, but if that wet would just wait till freeze up probably.
