North of edmonton its the same thing... some areas have had 2/10ths since early seeding.. some up to an inch.

Alot of big thunderstorms cruised thru but were dry or spat out... 40 drops.
Not joking.. we wont have much left if we dont get an inch to 2 this weekend.

Will be 2 to 3 staged canola crops/ beans / peas. But. Im a believer that this may help us if july heat hits... less stuff in bloom 1 time means less heat blast! ( positive thinking)

      Roots are deeeeep...
2 leaf canola has a tap root well over 8 inches deep.
nice to see vs those good may rain yrs where we get shallow roots that cant find moisture in july.

Do some work for it you lazy plants!

Still sitting at 2 tenths since the snow melted..
Crop is patchy and slow to develop. Need rain soon but nothing much in the forecast.
On a positive note not many flea beetles around and not really any weed pressure.

Sprayed for beatles first time in career here. Finished herbicides last week. Fairly clean. Some second pass on canola after it rains lol.
          Otherwise, money all spent now.

Crops are looking fairly decent all things considered. We've had just over 1" since the snowmelt. The large amount of snow this winter has been the biggest reason I can say our crops are decent up till now. Could really use a good general rain, it's sounding like next week there is a good chance of nice showers but that can change. All crops are up in rows, hilltops are hit or miss. This year could really go either way, time will tell!

Early crops here look pretty good, anything after May 10th is struggling big time.Sold some old crop canola (IP) today for 18.09 picked up, might regret in a month but can live with that price. Our canola on pea stubble is half the crop of the canola on wheat stubble, pea stubble dried out with all the wind and no rain.

Some young guys learned a hard lesson about tillage and rolling here. Lost 300 ac of canola to wind. Had to reseed. Blew all the seed and fert into the ditches.
                  Haven't seen that in years.

We might be saved. It is raining here in the western Canadian taiga.
