Panama is an exception to other central/ South American countries. It has a large secure revenue source , plus lots of off shore banking. Look at the buildings in Panama City , world class. These other countries have almost no middle class. Most are just living day to day to survive.A man in his seventies told me in Honduras that he works everyday from Oct to May in the tourism business. If he takes a day off somebody else will step in and he will probably be out of work.
